Wood, Silicon, Steel
The goal of this project was to use furniture to reinvigorate an entry to a school campus building. Our solution has two pieces: a simple stool made of two-by-fours dipped in silicon and bound together with a strap, and an illuminated planted screen that rolls. Students, professors, and visitors can move either of the two elements. The dynamically lit planters emphasize the seating area at night while also making it a safer place to sit. The materials are low cost and very durable. The stool and screen revitalize the front porch and provide places for waiting, chatting or sunning within a visual and acoustic buffer from the busy street. More information available upon request.
